My inspiration comes from the people that surround me and they usually become the subjects of my work. My sister inspired this series and she features in all the images. Even though work is based around her parts of me are imbedded in every image.

This body of work is about my sister’s transition from a girl to a young adult. But at the same time it is my transition and every girl’s transition. It hit me after watching my sister slowly change through her personality and appearance, how hard this stage is for girls. The work is layered with societal projections of female perfection: with depictions of the physical, mental and emotional impact of these intimate struggles and pressure to perform.
